This gesture was made partly because clubs are following strict procedures due to the coronavirus.

Strict rules force soccer club members to watch themselves. Coaches and players cannot greet each other closely. They greet each other in an appropriate way that abides by the social distancing rules. Players and Coaches also do this to set a positive example to the millions of fans that are watching the games live.

The important thing is to get the message across. If millions of other people followed the same basic social distancing rules then people will be able to protect themselves more efficiently.

No matter how much we know the person we're greeting, it's important to keep a distance with our colleagues or loved ones. It's for the good of each other.

It is very significant that the cameraman captures images of people keeping a distance from one another. The more people see these acts the more they're going to follow through.
